St Arnaud Show - This is what community is all about - Thanks Duxy for the incredibly good work you are doing with the podcasts and newsletter, and for the shout out in yesterday's newsletter for the little old St.Arnaud Show ! We’ve had some headwinds with everyone else wanting our date of first Saturday in October but we reckon we were here first as we set up for our 145th year 😊 The Royal Melbourne Show extended their dates to cover us a few years ago which we didn’t think was too neighbourly. We occasionally clash with the AFL footy and the Deni Ute muster draws a huge crowd often on the same weekend, as well as Goroke and Swan Hill Shows on the same day, which we certainly want to see continue as well. Ag Shows and shows like Deni provide a day for local people to come together, welcome ex locals back & visitors into the tribe and show off the virtues of the community. The St.Arnaud Show has as the usual wool & crop competitions, showjumping & show horses (both Saturday and Sunday), displays, cooking, craft, photography and pavilion, kids activities, rides and petting zoo, classic cars and heaps of food vans and market stalls and more. Importantly , it showcases a huge day of Sport Shearing which, instead of limiting entrants to finish in time for a quick shear at night, we have decided to increase entry numbers and run through to completion in the evening, with a cut out at the end (or maybe starting early 😊). There won’t be a quickshear which we have postponed to a date to be determined. Details in Facebook https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=st%20arnaud%20show and web www.starnaudshow.com or your local show dates are at https://www.vicagshows.com.au/shows. If you have a rural ute you want to show off and can’t get to Deni, we’d love to see you here and we’ll stump up $200 first prize for the best on display. Thanks again for the shout out and if you can’t make it, there is always St.Arnaud Cup on October 25th 😊

What was in this mornings edition of The Farmers Club.
Where is the next boom in Ag coming from? We think Farmers are looking for the next enterprise boom as opposed to an industry boom. Something that will require little investment in new Machinery or infrastructure. A Lamb Feedlot is a great example because many of the infrastructure components you might already have. We outline today in an article what we think might be the next boom enterprises.
Finding the next boom enterprise is a part of a series we have been writing about lately. Farmers currently have an insatiable appetite for information to improve their businesses and keep themselves above the average line. Our mission is the keep our subscribers on the “green line”. See the graph at the bottom of the page.
Being fiercely independent helps. At The Farmers Club, we do news, information and ideas with no ties to anyone. We can publish anything we like and do. A warning, though, we do have opinions....
What’s your opinion of GrainCorp? I know many Farmers put them in the same league as Telstra. Anyway, one thing they are is predictable when they came out with a news release yesterday on the new funding for biofuels. We called it the “Grubby Mits” story. Subscribe, and I will send it to you.
Do you start your day fully informed? 110 snippets of info this morning. That’s 110 bits of info that is going to make you smarter today. Subscribe, and I will send it to you.
I’ve worked out why social media is so successful, and it stems back to an age-old thing we've all craved for decades. What’s that, you ask? Our name or picture in the paper. People love reading about people, and people love it when people are reading about them. Is it something we could bottle and use elsewhere? We unpack it in a story today.
It’s Crop bragging time, and we have some ripping Crop photos in today’s edition. They are coming out in ear in WA, and they are in for a booming Harvest over there. Many would be asking for one more rain. Go WA.
There were possibly about 10 funnies in today’s full edition that could have occupied the space below. This one is pretty funny from King Charles…
Have a great Friday.
