Podcast Preview - Libby Price - Libby is a 40-year media veteran, and she has spent half of that time in the Ag and Rural media space. Libby is best remembered for her presenting gig at the ABC Country Hour, which she did for around 12 years. Libby had a 3-year stint as a newspaper editor at the Benella Ensign but was wooed back to Radio by the Ace Radio network to present the Country Today program. This was 8 years ago, and she has remained there to this day and has no plans for retirement. We had a good chat about life in general, how adversity can lead to opportunity and all the sliding door moments that happen in life. I hope you enjoy. End of message. Take a listen here.

Today’s Trends - There are plenty of big ticket items selling. The Hay season is kicking into gear. We will have a Hay report out tomorrow.

What things sold - Round Bale Gatherer, Ute, Spreaders, Headers, Oaten Hay, Canola Straw, Pelletised Chicken Manure and Urea

What was in this mornings edition of The Farmers Club.
  • Short, short, short, short. Are you time poor but want to be up with the latest? We make our newsletter long on info, ideas and news, but in short form. 10 to 20 minutes and you're out the door. Subscribe, and I will show you. Start your day informed.

  • We have the Libby Price podcast live on the full newsletter and will bring you the preview podcast in the next day or two.

  • Cropper have got good at a lot of things, but arguably the top of the pops thing is managing moisture. But do we get complacent after a couple of good moisture years? And do we make sure we place the Seed in the right spot? A couple of trails show we may be missing an opportunity here. We write about it today.

  • Cropping Farmers tend to specialise in areas; some are vigilant with weeds, others focus fully on timing, some are data-focused, some obsess about fertilisation and nutrition. But I have never come across a Farmer who's an expert on managing moisture. Do you know one?

  • As Farmers, we have to buy a lot of stuff to run the Farm. Some of those purchases are practical, and others are emotional. It's the emotional ones that get us in trouble, and we have to justify them to not only ourselves but also others. We did a deep dive on this emotional buying in an article today.

  • In one of our Farmer replies today, one bloke remembers when he was in his 20's he used to write out a $100 cheque on Saturday morning, go and play football, cash the cheque at the pub on Saturday night and party for the weekend and have change. The rule at our Marnoo local was yes, by all means cash the cheque, but the first bit goes to paying off the tab. Those were the days. Have you got any stories about cashing cheques?

  • Have a great Tuesday night.
