In need of a Motto - Our motto is “Find a way”. I remember when Shane Ruyg and I were up at Rockhampton for Beef Week. We arrived at where we were staying at a Caravan Park about 10km out of Yepoon.
It was Sunday arvo, and I pulled out the laptop to catch up on a few work-related jobs. Ahhh, no internet. I had a newsletter to finish off, so I did a bit of bitching and moaning and tried everything, but the signal was so weak I couldn’t get much done. We were thinking about shifting, then Shane got talking to his wife Megan, and she told us to stop complaining and find a way. So we did.
I was presenting at an event in Goroke on Friday and told our “find a way” motto story. Interestingly, event organiser Grant Hausler (Janmac) has a motto of his own and has been using it during the tough Autumn and Winter; his was “do something.”
I reckon it would be great for each Farm or business to have a default motto they could use when, say, a problem comes up, or you can’t figure out something. You could even have a personal one you mutter under your breath when needed. We tend to find these things when times are on the tougher side and use it to get through. But what we should be doing is adopting it at all times. Good, bad and anywhere between. Do you have a Farm or Personal motto you call on when needed? Reply to [email protected]
