Very helpful - I went and had a session with a cardiologist on Tuesday, which was a follow-up from the heart scan I had back in May. It was more of a precautionary thing when my scan came back that I was in the low-risk category.

However, he did start me on a low dose of blood pressure tablets as it was a little higher than normal. I was a bit disappointed in myself as apart from chewing on a few gout pills when I can feel a bout coming on, I have never taken any form of ongoing mediation.

But I couldn’t be more please in the consultation as he was scenario playing what can happen to men my age. Very helpful.

I can not encourage you enough to pencil in an annual check-up and ask your doctor to get you put through the heart machine for a scan. I think just doing blood and blood pressure, cholesterol, and the like is good, but it’s not enough. You have to ask for more. We are heading into a time when Farmers might be getting a little stressed, so it’s even more important to lock in a time to visit the doctor. Reply to [email protected]
