Looking for inspiration. Keep reading - There are times in our Agricultural journey when we just sit there and take notice. I have heard a couple of stories that we relayed through The Farmers Club newsletter in the last 24 hours that are inspiring.

The first one was this: "HAY CARTERS AVAILABLE - 3 x fit young reliable 18-year-old lads all with divers licences, we have our own 4 wheel drive Ute and Trailer. Currently available weekends. After the 10th of Nov we will be available 7 days a week throughout the school holiday. Fleurieu and Adelaide Hills area of SA. $2 a bale from the paddock and neatly stacked in shed. Contact….."

The second one was this: "Morning Dwain. Our main Shearing got underway this week, and after reading of the young Hay carters this morning, I write to tell you about a young fellow on the Shearing team. This kid is 21, and he is Shearing in a team of 6 that hail from Western NSW. He's knocking out 200 of our big framed heavy-cutting Goolgumbla blood Ewes by 5 pm each day, which is when they knock off up here (SA). The contractor tells us he's never seen a Shearer do it here (at our place) before. There's not much of him, but he's Shearing them beautifully, and the rest of the team has lifted their effort trying to go with him. Apparently, the kid already has bought two houses in Mildura at 21 years of age".

If this is indicative of who’s going to be running Ag in the future, then we are in good hands. This sort of stuff inspires you to get going yourself. These are positive stories, so please forward them to whoever you might see fit. Do you have a story of someone young in Ag who is doing something inspiring? Reply to [email protected]

And let's add another - I don't know this young lady, but I know of her and know the family. She has inspired Farming groups around the country that are fighting the renewable energy push. Her name is Eleanor Parry, from St Arnaud in Victoria, and she has just released her very own podcast called "Hey Farmer Farmer". Here is the Apple version and here is the Spotify version. Make sure you download and tune in.

She's also a gun musician. Her first podcast with Billy Baldwin is raw, and it's a ripper. This young lady gets Farming and has a bright future in whatever she does. Reply to [email protected]

The Farmers Club headlines - Our 3 topics tomorrow are:
1) In the Meat Processing game, they used to say if the plant caught fire, let it burn, but then one day it happened……
2) The management of cash is become more important than ever. What do we need to learn?……
3) How do we better educate ourselves better on the business side of things?…

Listings of the Week - This Anmar Weighbridge

Fertiliser Update - Are you ready for the 2025 season? Get in touch to discuss your Fertiliser requirements now! Strong Indian demand is driving Urea prices up, the price has gone up $10 per tonne to $700.00. Marnco Reported the following at the start of the week: “Urea prices are rising, driven by strong Indian demand and tight supply from the Middle East and Southeast Asia. India secured 50,000 tonnes for the west coast at $364.5/t CFR and 570,000 tonnes for the east coast at $389/t CFR. Additional tenders from India are expected, with further demand likely through early November and December. Brazilian demand may strengthen due to improved rainfall forecasts, boosting urea purchases.”
The MAP price has remained steady at $1,060.00, and likely to do so for the next couple of months. DAP is $1,075.00 per tonne, with the potential to increase slowly over the next month or so. Single Super stays steady at $430.00 per tonne ex Newcastle, Geelong and Portland and $450.00 per tonne ex Adelaide. We have access to prompt stock at $425.00 per tonne ex Newcastle and Geelong. MoP and SoP price has been steady for the last few months, MoP is priced at $690.00 ex all ports and SoP ranging from $1,230.00-$1,270.00 per tonne depending on port. It is recommended that farmers are organised and lock in required fertiliser to avoid Supply Chain issues in the even that Global issues escalate.

Chemical Update - No change in the price of Glyphosate from last week, Glyphosate 450 remains at $4.30 per litre and Glyph 540 $5.40 per litre. There is demand for Paraquat 250 ($3.60), Glufosinate ($4.60 per litre and Diquat ($5.80 per litre.
