A card in the mail - There's still a place in this fast-paced world we live in for old-school stuff. Let's use artificial intelligence (AI) as an example. They think we will have machines writing everything for us, but I reckon it will only make human-written stuff more valuable and more appreciated. That's one example.

What got me thinking about this was I had a 50th birthday party recently, which was really my 54th, and I had some friends and family along, but you can only spend so much time with each person, and the night goes quickly. Anyway, one of my old cricketing mates, couldn't stay long at the party, so we caught up only briefly.

Anyway, this week, I got a card in the mail, and it's a fantastic handwritten note about the first time we met and how good it was to catch up, albeit briefly. So this got me thinking that some of the things that we know are old and traditional won't be lost anytime soon. And you know what? That's a little bit comforting. I know I get excited when I see a Kingswood or WB Ute, something we once took for granted.

We think that the world is going to change quicker than it actually does, so something like a handwritten card in the mail can give you a little bit of comfort that some things are sacred and are not going to disappear in a hurry.
