Destroyed by bad arses - We love nothing better than promoting towns that have great Farming areas. We have spoken about Mildura, Griffith, Toowoomba, Cummins, Horsham, Marnoo, Moree, etc, through either this or The Farmers Club newsletter. We speak about them in a positive sense, but sometimes we have to write about things that aren't good, but by writing about them, hopefully, it can lead to better outcomes.

Today, I want to focus on Goondiwindi, a rich and thriving Farming area. It's a crossing town, and a major one at that, where the Queensland and NSW borders meet. I have stayed there many times and have loved my time there.

But Goondiwindi is under threat by youth gangs who proceed to break into people's houses and/or motel rooms, steal their Car/Ute keys and take the vehicle for a joy ride, ultimately destroying the it. Most of these gangs consist of teenagers, and you know what? They are doing it for fun.

Because it's a border town, these bad arses know all they have to do is get across the border, and the Qld police can't touch them. Watch this disturbing news footage here. They have ramped up the police presence there and someone said yesterday the police numbers had swelled dramatically. But they can only stay there for so long, and the youths will sit them out. I don't know what the answer is, as they seem to be able to get away with so much and they are destroying the good reputation of the place. The Farmers Club headlines - Our 3 topics tomorrow are:
1) Are we becoming a “drive-through” nation? We see it with food and coffee. Now it’s coming to Ag retail.
2) One Farmer is very frustrated with the way he’s been treated with a Tractor recall. It’s pretty shoddy.
3) Margin envy. Can Farming learn a lot from the Iron Ore industry?
