23 Days to go - Our FarmTender2024 - Entrepreneurs in Farming event is not far away. Click here for more info.

We tried to collaborate - I love how our Farmers are independent, and how Farmers and Farm have their own individual requirements. It's interesting to think about how much money we would save if we could collaborate, even a little. By that, I mean sharing Machinery, Equipment, Labour Resources, etc.

But we have never really got the sharing/collaborating to work as an industry, and that's fine. Perhaps we value our relationships too much with our neighbours that we think something like this might jeopardise that. We also see where siblings who succeed from each other share stuff at the start, but within a couple of years, they are entirely separate.

I thought about this, and that's why Machinery Hire businesses have never taken off here. Why? Because we all want that one bit of kit at the same time. The rest of the time, it's not needed.

At our FarmTender2024 - Entrepreneurs in the Farming event, we are interviewing John Gladigau, who was part of the Bulla Burra Collaborative Farming venture until his family recently exited. I am looking forward to this conversation as we want to prize out what worked and what didn't work. There should be plenty of learnings there. Have you ever shared Machinery with a neighbour? Did it work or not work? Reply to [email protected]

The Farmers Club headlines - Tomorrow, we talk about how the Yanks avoided this EU status for engine emissions by changing the category of their Utes (Trucks) to the Light Truck category. We write about how some Farmers aren’t buying New Machinery any more and we talk about how a Farmer is paid $44,000 a year to just look. Plus all your replies, we also have over 30+ short-form articles and images all about Farming. Sign up here.
