When 2 becomes 1 - The Machinery Dealership network throughout Australia is changing before our eyes. Many of the smaller Dealers are being bought out by the larger Dealers to form groups with economies of scale.

Whether that's a directive from the manufacturers only a few from the inside would know.

For the CNH Industrial (Case and New Holland) group, it's likely going to mean that Blue and Red brands will combine. We are already seeing it play out. They have set it up so both brands use the same or very similar parts. Really it's just a matter of time. Some insiders say the transformation will happen within 5 years.

It will be a good thing for the 2 brands and some of the larger Dealerships, but it won't be all plain sailing. Wherever there are 2 x Dealerships in one town (1 x Red and 1 x Blue), it might mean that one of those Dealerships is virtually worth nothing. If that is right, it will have an effect on what would likely be a family-owned and run operation that would now be pretty much worthless or severely discounted at best. I might be wrong on this but it makes sense in one aspect and is wrong in the other. How do you see the Red and Blue coming together playing out? Reply to [email protected]

FARM INPUTS REPORT - By Ellen Garland 0418 137 224

Fertiliser Update
As mentioned above, we have access to the Boosta blends ex IPL.

This week timeslots out of Geelong have freed up, there is some prompt Urea still available. The current market price is $700.00 + GST per tonne, back slightly on last week. We still have some available ex Geelong, Brisbane and Newcastle at $685.00 + GST and Port Kembla at $695.00.

Chemical Update
We continue to monitor the price of glyphosate for requirements later in the year. As mentioned last week, we expect Glyphosate 450 to continue to soften. The current price for immediate delivery is $4.10.00 + GST per litre and Glyph 540 is $5.10 + GST per litre.

Fungicides are the main concern with massive shortages. At this stage most growers are cover for the first spray, but should more rain continue into August, it is suggested that the 2nd and 3rd sprays will be near impossible to supply.

Here is a list of the Fungicides that are at available but at very low stocks:
Epoxiconazole
Prothiaconazole
Azoxystrobin 250
Azoxystrobin extra
Carbendazim
Mancozeb

Harvest Equipment
If you anticipate that you will need any new equipment prior to harvest, now is the time to get your order in to avoid longer lead times. The current lead time on Commander Ag-Quip Augers and Conveyors is approx. 6 weeks, a similar time frame to GE Silos. But with orders starting to ramp up, these lead times are expected to stretch out to 8-12 weeks. Please get in touch if there is anything that you need
