Birchip....Yer why not - Birchip is a little town in the Mallee area of Victoria. A wonderful place and a strong Farming area. I have been there lots of times and played Cricket there a few times, and I reckon they would have been one of the first communities to build an all-in-one Sports facility that houses Golf, Football, Cricket, Tennis, Hockey, and Netball clubs, as well as a function centre for local events. A trend other communities have emulated.

I stumbled upon this YouTube video titled "Why Move to Birchip? Watch it here. It's a series of interviews from now residents who have come from mainly the city and who have outlined their experiences and how much they have loved the transition. The idea is to attract new people to town.

I love this sort of front-foot stuff. We write about communities often, and to have a thriving community, you must put in the effort to get the rewards. Some communities (like Birchip) do it well, and others don't.

Whoever came up with the initiative needs a good pat on the back. If it manages to get some good quality families or people into town that can contribute and pass the all-important pub (both Commercial and Birchip) test then it's been a great success.
