The race to beat the rain - There's moisture around. Right up and down the Eastern side of the country. Harvesters and Hay makers are going as hard as they possibly can to get as much done before it drops.
We wrote about how some Farmers now have designed their Harvest so they can get it done real quick to avoid situations like what's unfolding. See the story here.

Pending rain event is not as stressful for the Grain Growers that are near the end of Harvest compared to those that are just starting. The anxiety levels can be dramatically different. And it's also a bit of the unknown as to how severe the weather is that's coming. I remember last year when we had that big rain event before Harvest. Many growers thought their Crops were buggered, but unless you got flooded along a River or Creek, the Crops turned out fine, and in some cases, it was a record season.
Sometimes, these things can be a little blessing in disguise. A mini break can do wonders. If you do get rain, the first thing I would do is catch up on some sleep, then re-acquaint yourself with the Family and go out for a meal somewhere or cook a roast at home and relax for a while. Use the time wisely. Once that is done, then it's time to start thinking about resuming your Harvest again. What do you usually do during rain breaks in the Harvest? Reply to [email protected]
