Slightly Broken - I remember when we used to go and exhibit at the many Field Days we attended over the years, we used to stand out the front of our site and get talking to people that way. Some of them were curious and would stop for a chat, whilst others had a better spot to go. We fully understand the dynamics and respect people's right to stop or not.
When people would pull up for a chat, I would always check their hands to confirm whether they were Farmers or not. It was a tried-and-tested rule that was pretty fail-safe, as Farmers have unique hands.
Another thing I noticed with Farmers and still do today is their broken bodies, mainly in the older Farmers who have done at least 20 odd Lambings or Harvests.
Farming requires physical labour, and some tasks can be hard on the body. When that constantly happens, things go wrong, and some can be left with injuries for life. They are a bit like old footballers or former fast bowlers. Most Farmers I know over the age of about 40 live with some pain in their bodies. I guess that's why, as we get older, we pick and choose the things we do and don't want to do. What part of your body is slightly broken? Reply to [email protected]
The Farmers Club headlines - Our 3 topics tomorrow are:
1) Word-of-mouth recommendations are the strongest form of marketing in Ag. We explain why.
2) Are you the retiring type? How do you want to spend your latter years?
3) What have you done that’s being character-building?
Plus more. Join here for free or email reply “Yes”, and I will add you to the newsletter.
One-day Auction next Wednesday - See the link here.
Private Funding available for Soil Carbon Projects - I am contacting any interested Farmer who has an interest in a longer-term project to build up soil carbon. Do you want to decrease your Chemical inputs? Want to lower your Fertiliser usage? Improve your long-term soil health so as to provide the public with healthier food. Decrease the risk of disease and frost damage. With the possibility of some non government and/or private funding available. Please email Dwain at [email protected] and he will pass your details on.
