An industry on the brink - Firstly, I just want to state that I am not against Electric Vehicles (EVs); they have a place, but just as a part of a whole marketplace and not something governments and the like should be striving for as the only mode of transport on offer. People won't tolerate this shove-it-down-my-throat approach.
The EV market outside China is on the brink of collapse. Car companies are getting more than their EV economic lesson. They all went in hard, and despite the subsidies, almost all have retreated and even scrapped their EV divisions. Such has been the fallout. One industry journalist said this: "Bloodbath is used too often in business journalism. But it may be the only word to describe the state of the Western Electric Vehicle industry." For context, see the snippets from the article at the bottom of the page.
Governments and the like don't understand that only a small percentage of the community wants to own an EV. They are impractical for many. Smart Motor Vehicle businesses, many of which have been so successful for years, have backed the wrong horse here, and many will suffer the consequences. In China, on the other hand, it's a thriving industry. But that seems to be an isolated case.
This whole energy-go-round industry is falling to bits, and the cost to our country (Australia) is going to be enormous. We have devoted tomorrow morning's entire Farmers Club newsletter to energy and to the reasons why it's falling to bits. Sign up to read here. Do you agree that EVs have a place, but it's only ever going to be a small part of the market? Reply to [email protected]

1) On both sides of the energy-go-round the cracks are getting wider.
2) Foreign companies are getting extraordinary subsidies to build and run these Wind Farms.
