A family of Ag innovators - We've said before how we don't celebrate our Ag entrepreneurs enough. So, I want to introduce you to Paul Ryan, or more so, the Ryan Family. They originated in Mallee and still operate out of the Wimmera in Victoria.

I heard their story on a podcast, which you can listen to here. Paul's father, Austin, was the ultimate inventor of all types of things but was famous for building the Ryan Scarivator, which was a cross between the Scarifier and the Cultivator. But I think what Austin (and I'm sure Paul had some input) was more famous for was the RFM AirDrill. We still sell plenty of them today, and they have been out of production for some time now.

These days, the business is a little different. Paul and his son Toby now run Ryan NT, see the website here, where they sell a series of No-Till retrofits. Tynes, Discs, Press Wheels, etc. They are made in Canada, and their products are starting to be sold outside Australia. They can pretty much fit their products to any make of Seeder Bar, Drill or Combine.

What I love about the Ryans is that they are good people, great at servicing their customers, and they understand how to grow a business through incremental progress. Paul spends alot of time driving, visiting Farmers and says the driving gives him alot of thinking time. But I bet his dad was someone who had one of those inventive minds that spent every waking hour thinking about improving his product or working our solutions to other problems in the Ag space. Please take a listen to the podcast. It's a great story. Reply to [email protected]
