Lesson from last year - I was talking to a Farmer over the weekend about the Fertiliser game here and how the complexities keep playing out. No one year is like the other in the Fertiliser game.
Last year, the industry was spooked by the weather report back in March, which did come to fruition for some in the North. But many in the Southern end of the Country they got the rain they were after, and demand for Fertiliser and Urea went through the roof. Suppliers were caught on the back foot due to the forecast and didn't have enough stock in reserve, so getting your hands on the product when you wanted it was an issue. This left everyone in the marker frustrated.

So, how will the situation play out this year? I saw an article written in Grain Central, which you can read here. It outlines a few things that we can take into consideration as Farmers. 1) Understand what sub-soil moisture you currently have or don't have. 2) By all means, look at the BOM forecast, but don't react to it. Bat on as per normal. 3) Keep talking to the trade, and don't get caught up trying to predict pricing.
No two years are the same in Fertiliser. The industry is void of general information, and transparency is minimal. Many in the trade play their cards close to their chest. It's a bit of an us and them standoff at times. It doesn't have to be like this, but it is. Like everything in Ag, find people you trust and work with them.
