Without appropriate consent - Plenty of us have been having difficulties with our voicemails lately. This has been a source of constant frustration for those who use voicemails to do business when they are otherwise occupied or out of range. Apparently, Telstra has changed our settings without consultation and has left people with full voicemail boxes. Me included.
The voicemails were working fine before they got their grubby little mitts on it, so why the change? And to me, they are shifting the goalpost without consent.
Another thing I heard today was that a Farmer bought a second-hand Truck and financed it about 12 months ago. Now that the value has dropped (according to the finance company), they asked the Farmer to pay the lump sum difference between what they owe and what the finance company says the new value of the Truck is. They went back and looked through the fine print, and sure enough, it was in there. I suppose if it's in the fine print, they deem it a fair game. But what I worry about is who is re-valuing the Truck, the finance company or a professional valuer. Once again, moving the sticks.
I heard of something similar over Covid where a bank that didn't have its loans government-guaranteed, like the big four, told a Farmer who had a Land mortgage to pay some ridiculous lump sum amount because they deemed it a risk because of the non-government guarantee.
