Beef Week Day 1 - What did we learn? - Firstly, this is massive. We came to here not knowing what to expect and walked away pretty gobsmacked. The time and effort that went into this event are second to none. I reckon in the lead-up and for at least 12 months during, I would have got 5 or 6 emails a week from the "Beef" guys of things I could attend, instructions, you name it.
It really is something else, and for Agriculturalists, it's a bucket list thing. It doesn't matter if you are into Cattle or not, pencil it in. I spoke at length with Matthew Coddington from Roseville Park Sheep Stud fame, and he was equally impressed. We did talk about how our Sheep equivalents are way off the pace and probably dying more than thriving. What would it take for the Sheep industry to bandy together, employ quality and full-time event organising staff that was passionate about the industry and make it a once-every 3-year event where you could build anticipation and get the punter along?
This has it all: the trade sites are extraordinary, the networking is next level, and some of the events within are a melting pot of ideas and takeaways. No matter where the industry is at, this event is choc full of positivity and enthusiasm, for this week at least.
This is Monday's report after day 1. I will let you know how we are going by Friday night. 2 questions. Did you attend "Beef" today, and if so, what did you think? Does the Sheep industry need an equivalent event or not? Reply to [email protected]
