Does Ag need a rebrand? - On any one day, we can get anywhere from 15 to 30 replies a day from this newsletter and The Farmers Club one. All are fantastic through provoking replies to a subject we have written about.
One Farmer wrote in wanting to ask me to ask each speaker this question. Does Australia Ag Need a Rebrand? My intention was to do that, but for some reason, we got so into the conversation that we didn't have any time left.
It's a good question because, as Farmers, we have spot fires coming at us left, right, and centre. And these spot fires are coming from people that don't understand Ag. We wrote a few weeks back about how most of us are exhausted trying to tell non-farming people our Farming stories. We're just not getting any cut-through.
So, do we need to think more of ourselves as a sporting code trying to fight for as many participants or eyeballs as possible? Ag is Ag; there is no other Ag, so we have no competition, and that might be part of the problem. But if we change our mindset and treat ourselves like a sporting code where they have shitloads of competition, then we might have a chance of recruiting some to our corner.
