Not happy Jan - Our friends at Ag Survey have touched a nerve here. The Shires and Councils survey has been well patronised with over 100 responses so far. Here are some of the findings:
72.22% said their council is not managed efficiently.
55.56% said their council is not transparent regarding budgeting and funds allocation.
69.45% think the local council does not actively support private economic growth.
72.73% say local councils should not be able to enter into confidential commercial agreements.
57.78% say minority groups have too much sway with councils.
86.20% say local councils need be transparent in the remuneration for their executives/management/staff/consultants.
62.07% say councils are not in safe hands.

National Sheep prices: Trade Lamb 649 (+21), Heavy Lamb 664 (+8), Restocker Lamb 603 (+118), Mutton 287 (+45). Goat prices: 180 (NC). All prices are up until Friday, the 5th of April, and are cents/kg. Ranges are from a week ago. Source MLA.
