Do we have a moral obligation? - It seems to be the start of the buying-up-of-Land-to-grow-trees-for-carbon-credits era. Big companies with lots of financial resources and dirty business practices are heading in this direction.

Then we have the renewable energy push, where the government wants to burden Farmers with wind towers, solar panels, and powerlines on their valuable Farmland, which will change the place forever. Mining is another one.

Another one is Water. We know the government has legislated that they have to buy Water, and in many cases, they will have to buy it from Farmers.

So what I am getting at here is that all the above examples need Farmers, the people who are currently the owners of the Land, to cooperate. So do Farmers have a moral obligation to sell or not to sell out to these companies and governments that want to plant trees, host wind towers, solar panels or powerlines, dig mines or sell their Water? Do we band together and put a moratorium of our own on any of these activities? Do we only sell to people who want to pursue Agricultural activities? Or is it up to the individual Farmer to do whatever the hell they like? Collectively, we have the ability to shut these guys out completely. And we have seen localised groups form to do so. But they are our Farms and our Water (we own them), and we can sell out to whoever we want. Is there no wrong or right answer here, or should we have a no trees, no renewables, no mines and no water selling policy of our own? Thoughts? Reply to [email protected]
